VANIQA® is the first and only prescription cream clinically proven to slow the growth of unwanted facial hair (UFH) in women. Over time you may be removing hair less often. VANIQA® was studied around the lips and under the chin.

With VANIQA®, you have an exciting way to help manage your unwanted facial hair. VANIQA® (eflornithine HCI) Cream, 13.9% doesn't remove hair like many products you may already be using. Instead it actually slows the growth, complementing your current treatment. You should continue to use your current method of hair removal. VANIQA® can be used on all skin types. Because VANIQA® is a prescription cream, you need to talk to your doctor to see if VANIQA® (eflornithine HCI) Cream, 13.9% may be right for you.

How does VANIQA® work?

VANIQA® is a unique prescription cream that works right where the problem of unwanted hair begins, within the hair follicle itself.

It is believed that VANIQA® (eflornithine HCI) Cream, 13.9% works during the growth stage of the follicle that is necessary for hair to grow.

How do I use VANIQA®?

A little VANIQA® goes a long way. As directed by your doctor, massage a thin layer of VANIQA® (eflornithine HCI) Cream, 13.9% on the affected area of your face twice a day, until it's absorbed into your skin. You may want to use VANIQA® once in the morning and once at night, since you should wait 8 hours between applications.

Apply VANIQA® after cleansing and before applying cosmetics. You should wait at least 4 hours after applying VANIQA® (eflornithine HCI) Cream, 13.9% before washing your face again. Remember, you should continue to use your current method of hair removal or maintenance.

VANIQA® may fit into your daily beauty routine. Once VANIQA® is absorbed, you can apply cosmetics or sunscreen as usual.

Are there any side effects?

In clinical trials, some women reported mild and temporary skin irritations such as redness, stinging, burning, tingling, acne or rash. Only 2% of women discontinued their participation in studies due to side effects related to VANIQA® (eflornithine HCI) Cream, 13.9%. If you experience any of the above symptoms for an extended period of time while using VANIQA®, discontinue use and consult your doctor.

What happens if I don't use VANIQA® regularly?

If you forget or miss a dose of VANIQA® (eflornithine HCI) Cream, 13.9%, don't try to “make it up.” If you don't apply VANIQA® for an extended period of time, hair will begin growing at the same rate as it used to. Once you resume using VANIQA® twice a day, everyday, hair growth should slow again. If you have other questions talk to your doctor.

How do I get VANIQA®?

VANIQA® is only available by prescription so you should ask your doctor if VANIQA® is right for you. Any doctor can write a prescription for VANIQA® , so you can talk to your regular doctor, an OB/GYN, a dermatologist, or any other doctor you feel comfortable talking to.

Is it appropriate to talk with my doctor about unwanted facial hair?

Certainly. While you may hide your facial hair from everyone else, you can feel comfortable discussing it with your doctor. After all, now for the first time your doctor has a prescription option to offer you. You can be sure your doctor is willing-and-able to help.

How do I know VANIQA® is working?

That's the wonderful thing about it: success is what you can't see. When your rub VANIQA® in, it goes below the surface to slow growth within the hair follicle itself. So over time, you may find you're less bothered by the time spent tweezing, waxing, shaving, bleaching, or using any other method to manage your facial hair. That's how you'll know VANIQA® (eflornithine HCI) Cream, 13.9% is really working.

Who can use VANIQA®?

VANIQA® can be used on all skin types and is for women who are bothered by unwanted facial hair around the lips and under the chin. It should not be used if you are less than 12 years old. Ask your doctor if VANIQA® is right for you. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, discuss with your doctor whether you should use VANIQA® (eflornithine HCI) Cream, 13.9% during pregnancy. No clinical studies have been performed in pregnant women. If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using VANIQA®. It is not known if VANIQA® is passed to infants through breast milk.

How long until I see results?

VANIQA® is not a quick fix. It takes time for results to become visible, as early as eight weeks for some. And the good news is, in clinical studies, the longer VANIQA® was used, the better it worked. Individual results may vary. If no improvement has been seen in six months you should discontinue use.

Does VANIQA® mean that I don't have to deal with unwanted facial hair anymore?

No. VANIQA® does not remove hair. If you are currently using a hair removal treatment method, it's important for you to continue doing so. VANIQA® (eflornithine HCI) Cream, 13.9% complements your current method of hair removal by slowing the rate of growth, so you can keep looking your best.
